And until it has faded completely, that simulacrum of life will remain imperfectly preserved as a shadow of what it was, as an aching reminder of what can never be recovered; of what was squandered and what will never be.

Some time ago when I started thinking about a Worm fic, three ideas came to mind. This is the beginning of one of them, which may end up becoming a full story at some point, although I'm not yet certain about that.

Some time ago when I started thinking about a Worm fic, I had three ideas that came to mind. One turned into Taylor Varga, which grew rather out of hand, although I regret nothing! One I did about eight chapters of, but shelved for the time being as it was rapidly turning into something ridiculously complicated. I may come back to it at some point in the future even so. I've lifted a few bits out of it for Taylor Varga, so it wasn't a waste of time.

The third idea was the one behind this beginning. Whether I'll go on with it at some point I don't know. I quite like the idea, but I haven't decided exactly how it would work, aside from it being an AU of Worm that breaks entirely with continuity some years before the start of canon. No Scion, that golden idiot makes the entire setting almost impossible to end properly without nearly everyone dying or a huge deus ex machina, so he snuffed it at the same time as Eden. Less powerful Endbringers, for the same reason, although still insanely powerful. Basically, tilting the field a little more towards sanity.

It would have been fairly dark even so, although not Worm dark. I didn't want to mow down entire worlds full of people...

Because it doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to be consistent. Or: Taylor is a Saiyan, somehow, and stupidity is the name of the game.

When he answered the call for Lung, Colin happened to be in the middle of a conversation with Dragon, and got coaching through his conversation with Skitter. Worlds change as a result.

Taylor Hebert triggered. She did not get a Master Ability. Instead, she got the Multitasking ability of her power cranked up to 11. Dragon happened to be in Brockton Bay for Armsmaster-related reasons at the time...

Taylor did not trigger when her mother died. She did not trigger in the locker. She triggered when her heroes fell. She triggered with the single minded mission to destroy the organization that sought to destroy her, and the power to do so.

Being a vessel for the spirits of heroes of old was awesome. Well, except for the part where a lot of them wore very little clothing.

Who needs fancy and flashy superpowers when causality becomes your bitch?

Taylor saw herself as more of a General than a Queen. With a perchant for white and a knack for invention, she might just have what it takes to make it in the world of capes.

Taylor got the powerset she wanted. She was strong, she had wings and she could take a hit or two. She even got an alter ego nobody would ever connect to Taylor Hebert! Unfortunately, her alter ego made Mouse Protector look positively restrained by comparison.
