Taylor gets a summer job after Freshman year. The bills have been piling up, and, well, there isn't exactly a surplus of legitimate jobs in the Bay... she's now Uber and Leet's grunt number four. At least the pay's good?

So what would happen if things went slightly differently?

Taylor didn't think she'd ever see the day Sophia came to her looking for help, but the world is full of surprises like that. Learning to juggle that on top of managing a strip club and making sure her boss isn't murdered by a shadowy mastermind is all part of growing up in a place like Brockton Bay.

Some time ago when I started thinking about a Worm fic, I had three ideas that came to mind. One turned into Taylor Varga, which grew rather out of hand, although I regret nothing! One I did about eight chapters of, but shelved for the time being as it was rapidly turning into something ridiculously complicated. I may come back to it at some point in the future even so. I've lifted a few bits out of it for Taylor Varga, so it wasn't a waste of time.

The third idea was the one behind this beginning. Whether I'll go on with it at some point I don't know. I quite like the idea, but I haven't decided exactly how it would work, aside from it being an AU of Worm that breaks entirely with continuity some years before the start of canon. No Scion, that golden idiot makes the entire setting almost impossible to end properly without nearly everyone dying or a huge deus ex machina, so he snuffed it at the same time as Eden. Less powerful Endbringers, for the same reason, although still insanely powerful. Basically, tilting the field a little more towards sanity.

It would have been fairly dark even so, although not Worm dark. I didn't want to mow down entire worlds full of people...

Welcome to my new quest. Now, first and foremost, I have run quests before on different sites, under different aliases, but I've never precisely run something on a forum like SB/SV before. It's a bit different than what I'm used to, but I'll try my best. I'm used to a very fast-moving quest, a post every ten minutes with instant votes, but I'll try to keep the pace a bit more sedate for this new environment.

This is a Worm Quest, and you guys are going to be playing an original character who knows... well, a lot. Almost as much as someone who'd browsed through the story knows. His name is Echo, and he is a parahuman who has lived and died and lived and died repeatedly for centuries. His memory isn't quite perfect, and he doesn't quite know everything... but he gets the gist.

His power doesn't quite fit the 'theme' of normal powers- almost on the scale of an Outside Context Problem- and there's a reason for it. Only time will tell if you learn precisely why that is.

AN: The basic premise is this: shrines from LoZ Breath of the Wild appear in Brockton Bay, as well as a tower and sheikah slates, and they grant all the powers they do in the game. People start completing the various challenges, competing to get the most spirit orbs. This is not video game mechanics though, those are silly. The one good thing about this is it isn’t an alt-powers, so be glad of that. The bad thing is I will most likely horribly mangle whatever character is chosen to be he protagonist.
