So what would happen if things went slightly differently?

Taylor triggers as a Tinker (oh god not another one) with access to the Cybran tech tree from Supreme Commander. If you've read A Cloudy Path (and you should) things will start at least a little bit familiar, but keep in mind Cybrans fight very different than Aeon. The Cybran tech is the extent of the AU/crossover, there won't be any surprise visits from Dr. Brackman or other SupCom bits and pieces, and any changes from canon are either a direct result of Taylor's different powers or my own genuine mistake. If I dun goofed about canon, let me know and I'll fix it if at all possible.

Taylor gets a Thinker/Striker power that lets her see, understand, and manipulate different kinds of structures she comes in contact with. This story won't be heavy on physical fights, instead based on Taylor fixing Brockton Bay in any way she can. Her trigger is very public, causing the PRT to know her identity from the start. Fight them and working with her father, Taylor will do what she can to achieve her goals. No matter what.

Sophia escaped, disappearing. Two years later, someone familiar is on the roof of the apartment Taylor is staying in, a few days before she leaves for Brockton.

Taylor is kidnapped and stuffed into a cryopod by a Grineer science/raiding party in 2009 while at summer camp. The Grineer’s ship suffers a malfunction and is trapped in the Void. Taylor wakes and is eventually discovered by a Tenno party.

Sometimes two minds aren't better than one. Driven to the verge of suicide by bullying, Taylor gains the ability to copy powers permenenatly...and minds, memories, and emotions. As she struggles with depression and the drastic changes that each new 'self' creates in her, starting with Sophia, she also tries to create a movement and be a hero. But punching someone is far harder than fixing the broken world, especially when you're a girl with a broken mind. Psychological. Mentally mixed-up Taylor.

During a moment of crisis, Taylor Hebert, destined saviour of dozens of worlds, is approached by an unusual creature, with an even more unusual offer.

From sb: I’ve read several stories where an alt!power Taylor (usually Tinker) gets kidnapped/blackmailed into working for Coil when, in canon, he was much more inclined to use the carrot as opposed to the stick when it comes to his subordinates. I wrote the first chapter as a one shot, showcasing how Taylor might willingly end up working for Coil and posted it in the Worm Idea Thread. Got enough of a positive response that (once I settled on a plot) I expanded it into a full story.

Basic premise is that the SI arrives at the worst possible moment, when the original team drops Cadmus's ceiling on Blockbuster. The Worm half is where the powers come from. I honestly debated handing him Kaneki's powerset from Tokyo Ghoul but decided that would be too angsty.

You called the PRT and the hotline lady thought you were pulling her leg.</p> <p style="margin: 0px;">You would be doing some underage drinking right now if it weren't for the fact that even if you could get a fake driver's license you didn't even have the cash in the first place.</p> <p style="margin: 0px;">So instead you have decided to do something you should have done for a whole month: go out and do your first patrol.</p> </div>

<div>The host thread writes the trigger event. <p> After the character is created in the shard thread, the host thread will create a trigger event. Configure is a shard specialized in creating, tweaking, and adjusting powers, and more often than not will include those abilities in the powers it grants its host. But a strong foundation must still be made before any shenanigans can be built on top, and the trigger event will affect how the power is applied and expressed. It's impossible to precisely determine the outcome of a trigger event (translation: don't try to design the power itself), but clearly defined trigger events often have predictable tendencies. For instance, a trigger defined by social isolation will always result in powers with a strong Master component, and so on. You can even go for a multitrigger if you like. Just keep in mind that, no, you can't have the clusterfuck trigger mindmeld a la Rain O'Fire, and also your cluster mates aren't controllable characters. Aiming for multiple power categories is also a possibility. Second triggers are not something you can actively decide on, although a sufficiently severe trigger event might result in a second trigger. </p></div>

<div>The shard thread writes the backstory of the host. <p> Pretty much anything goes in this case, as long as it isn't physically impossible for the setting. The host must be an unpowered person in the city of Brockton Bay, in Earth Bet, at a time no later than the date Worm starts on. Original characters are allowed, within reason. Entire families can be invented wholesale, and even entire streets, as long as they conform to the vaguely defined geography of Brockton Bay and don't contradict anything that already exists. OC parahumans, on the other hand, aren't allowed; you can use existing parahumans in the unpowered host's backstory, as long as it's reasonable and doesn't contradict canon. The host can belong to whatever organizations they could reasonably access given their location, disposition, resources, age, and so on. Feel free to include details such as lifestyle, personality, hobbies, friendships, career, education, and whatnot. Anything that's important to the character will, more likely than not, have at least a passing importance to the story. </p></div>

<p>Welcome to Hope is an Anchor, where you play as Noelle, a young woman from Earth Aleph, who, along with her friends, finds herself in deep waters. While in canon it was Noelle who was badly injured, in this story it is Krouse who is badly hurt, leaving her in command. Can she get home? Will she want to? Well, that's up to you. Hope is an Anchor uses a modified version of the One Roll Engine system. </p>
